Our firm often gets asked the question: which is better, consular processing or change of status? The answer usually depends on your situation and whether or not you are inside the U.S. If you are overseas, then you do not have a choice and must go through consular processing.

The A4 diesel shares its design with the petrol-powered model, meaning it looks neat, classy and inoffensive in typical Audi fashion. The understated yet impressive design is part of the reason Audi has revelled in big success with B7 and B8 gen A4 models that have aged rather well.This latest-gen A4 is slightly longer and wider than its predecessor but retains the balanced stance nonetheless. That said, there is a lot more in terms of sharp creases and clever detailing than the previous car; the front-end for instance houses the signature Audi grille which sits lower and is broader than before. The interiors of the A4 diesel are similar to the petrol model that we drove earlier. Our test car had an all-black theme with wood inserts and it looked sporty. The steering wheel gets an aluminum insert at the bottom while the centre console gets the familiar MMI system with the control knob and other buttons. The MMI is intuitive to use and has a lot of functions. Sound quality from the audio system is good but not as eargasmic as other high-end cars. The Virtual Cockpit is the best part about the A4 and the inbuilt navigation which shows detailed information is very good. The front seats are comfortable and have good adjustment options while at the rear, space is a bit restrained and kneeroom is tight while the seats continue to remain a good place to be in.

The petrol-powered A4 may have a relatively small engine for its class but this diesel-powered model is right up there with the rest when it comes to displacement and power figures. Speaking of which, the 2-litre, four-cylinder turbo diesel motor makes 190bhp of power and 400Nm of torque. More importantly, the new A4 diesel is quite a bit lighter than the old car (thanks to usage of aluminium in construction) which means the engine has less weight to lug around.This motor has always been a sprightly and willing little thing and now with the less weight and a much quicker dual-clutch automatic gearbox (as against the CVT in the old A4), performance is strong right from the word go. There is a hint of turbo lag at lower revs but because of the broad torque band, this engine pulls strong once past 1,800rpm, revving out till 4,500rpm without sounding coarse at all. There’s a clean surge of power off the line and the A4 diesel gets up to speed rapidly enough. So much so that it does 0-100kmph in 7.94 seconds which is impressive considering that the more powerful Mercedes C250d hits the same mark in 7.34 seconds. That said, it’s the BMW 320d M-Sport that’s still the quickest accelerating executive sedan, taking just 7.14 seconds (thanks to launch control). In terms of in-gear acceleration, the Audi’s got the better of its rivals – it took all of 5.79 seconds to complete the 40-100kmph sprint, as against 6.12 seconds and 5.87 seconds for the 320d and C250d respectively. The A4’s surprisingly quick in-gear times has a lot to do with the 7-speed DSG that now comes as standard. As you would expect, this dual-clutch unit manages shifts with superb intuition, swapping cogs quickly when worked hard. Even under normal driving conditions, the gearshifts are silky smooth and right when you need them. Thankfully, the indecisive response from standstill – a typical DSG trait – can be hardly felt in this car. The different driving modes (including Comfort, Dynamic, Auto and Individual) do not change the way the suspension works but they do alter the DSG’s responsiveness – the gearbox hangs onto lower gears, shifts up at higher rpm in Dynamic and in Comfort, begins freewheeling as soon as you get off the throttle.

The Audi A4 has a very good ride and the suspension soaks up bumps with ease. There is no stiffness and the sedan remains fairly composed most of the times. The suspension also feels very silent and there are no unnecessary thuds on sharp undulations too. Talking about the steering, it is direct and precise but lacks feel and even though it provides safe and predictable handling, it just lacks the involvement that rivals in the same segment provide. You can better the steering feel by switching to Dynamic mode which stiffens the wheel. The suspension remains the same in all the modes though. This is not an S4, but if you ask me, it is the next best thing. Like a watered-down version of it. The car most certainly resonates with some sort of exclusivity and sportiness, yet it looks like it is trying to keep it all to itself. No badges on it. So, in today’s article, I’m going to walk you through 4 “over-optimization” mistakes to avoid to ensure you don’t get pushed away by Google.

1. Stuffing Keywords into Page Titles

Google looks at the title of every page, and it helps to tell Google what your page is about. Your titles have a major impact on how your pages will rank in Google.

In case you’re not familiar, your title is part of the code of each page. It’s actually not visible on the webpage itself, but if you open up a browser, in the upper left-hand corner of that browser, you’ll see the title of the page.

Because of the weight Google puts on titles, a lot of people try to force their keywords repetitively in the title. I see this mistake very often when I’m reviewing websites.

Back in the day, this type of keyword stuffing could improve your search engine rankings. But these days, that tactic does not work as well. Instead, it can be counter-productive.

It’s important to include your keyword in the title, but if you repeat your keywords a lot or include lots of different variations unnaturally, that can actually hurt your search engine rankings because Google will see that as manipulative.

And here’s another way that stuffing your titles with keywords can backfire…

The title is actually what shows up in the search results – it’s the blue underlined link in Google’s search results. And if you’ve just put a lot of keywords as the title, then when somebody does search, and your website shows up, then that’s going to look pretty spammy.

2. Forcing Keywords into Your Webpage Copy

The second over-optimization tactic I see all the time is stuffing keywords into the actual webpage copy.

Before, I was talking about stuffing keywords into the title. From a website visitor’s standpoint, you could sort of fly under the radar stuffing keywords into your title tag, because most people actually don’t notice that when they’re on your website.

If you force keywords into your copy, your website visitors will read unnatural sentences and random keywords stuffed into the content. That looks really spammy, and it can be counter-productive for your ultimate marketing goals.

After all, what’s the goal of SEO anyway?

It’s not just rankings. And it’s not just traffic either. The ultimate goal of SEO should be to generate leads and sales. And if your website content is spammy, that could really hurt your website conversions.

Plus, if you force keywords into your website copy, Google will see that as unnatural and spammy as well. And that can hurt your search engine rankings. So it’s just not a good idea.

3. Creating Near-Duplicate Pages Purely For SEO

Imagine you’re a dentist, and you wanted to rank for the keyword phrase “New York City dentist.” You might create a page on your website focused around that keyword phrase, right? Maybe you’d optimize your homepage for that phrase.

But then, you might decide you’d also like to rank for a similar phrase like “Manhattan dentist.” And so, maybe you’d create a page for that keyword phrase too.

And so on, and so on.

Creating those near-duplicate pages used to work OK years ago…

But not today.

Google has gotten smarter at figuring out that a lot of different keywords are synonyms with the same search intent. And the Hummingbird update improved Google’s abilities even more.

You don’t need to have two different pages for New York City dentist and Manhattan dentist because Google understands that’s the same search, so they’ll display the same results for that.

Instead of creating near-duplicate pages for different synonyms, you should group your keywords into topics, and then create the best page you can for each topic.

4. Over-Optimized Anchor Text

When it comes to SEO, you need to build up your website’s authority.

And a major factor in your website’s authority is the quantity and quality of links from other websites that are linking to your website. You can basically think of a link from another website as a vote in your favor.

Every link to your website has what’s called anchor text, which is the clickable text. This anchor text helps Google understand what a particular page is about.

Again, imagine you’re a dentist based in Manhattan, and you want to get your website ranking at the top of Google for “New York City dentist.”

Wouldn’t it be great if lots of websites linked to your website with the anchor text New York City dentist? That would help you reach the top of Google for that phrase.

And so, that’s how a lot of companies have approach SEO for years. They would go out and build tons of links with identical or very similar anchor text.

When we’re conducting an SEO audit, we’ll take a look at a website’s link profile, and see how many links they have and where they’re coming from, and the anchor text of those links.

Often, we find that websites have very highly-concentrated anchor text, with almost all the incoming links containing the same keyword phrases. Well, this is extremely unlikely to happen naturally!

Google knows that, and increasingly, this type of linking has become a big red flag to Google. When Google sees this, they know you are trying to manipulate the search results. Renault Kwid Gearbox

No changes have been made under the hood of the Renault Kwid. There is a 799cc petrol engine that produces 53 HP and 72 Nm. This 3-cylinder unit offers decent performance in the city but feels underpowered when you try to pick up speeds on the highway. It is mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox which offers light shifts and the clutch is equally light too. On the fuel efficiency front, this engine delivers anywhere between 17-21 km/l. This engine isn’t offered with an AMT gearbox.

The other engine on the Kwid is a 999cc petrol unit and this is also a 3-cylinder engine. This churns out 67 HP and 91 Nm. In comparison to the smaller engine, this one feels peppier and livelier. In city driving, the performance increment is instantly noticeable and the Kwid feels responsive. On the highways, the car has enough grunt to reach 100 km/hr but if you intend to do very high speeds, the engine may not feel up to the mark. The Kwid 1.0 is also very fuel efficient giving out 16-20 km/l. The 1.0-litre engine gets a 5-speed AMT too which increases the convenience quotient by a huge extent and even though the shifts aren’t exactly lag-free, you can’t expect much at this price.

The Kwid has very good ride quality like other Renault cars and doesn’t disappoint on the comfort front. The suspension feels good enough to cope up with our roads. The 13-inch tyres are just enough to do their job but grip levels aren’t very good. The brakes however are fairly decent but the Kwid still misses out on ABS. The steering lacks any sort of feel or feedback and the driving experience is unexciting. NVH levels in the Kwid leave a lot to be desired because even though the engines are silent at idle, they get noisy at speeds and the sound insulation in the Kwid does little to filter out outside noises and disturbances.

One look and you will notice the peculiar familiarity of the new Rapid with the Skoda Octavia and the Superb. The fascia is more slender than the old car and it now features sleeker headlamps like in the Octavia. These projector units also feature DRLs that just adds to the Rapid’s more premium looks. The signature moustache grille is carried over, below which is a redesigned bumper with restyled air dams and fog lamps. There are some leatherette elements in the cabin such as the steering wheel, gearknob, handbrake lever, etc. The quality, fit and finish is without doubt excellent and feels like a typical German car. The instrument cluster looks a bit dated though while the steering is great to hold.The biggest change with the latest updates is the new 6.5-inch touchscreen infotainment system that comes with MirrorLink technology that syncs your smartphone with inbuilt apps. The sound quality of the audio system is quite satisfying. We reviewed the new 1.5-litre TDI diesel paired to a five-speed manual. It also can be had with an optional seven-speed DSG transmission. Then there is also a petrol variant powered by a 1.6-litre MPI unit mated to either a five-speed manual or six-speed automatic gearbox. Start the Rapid facelift’s updated diesel engine, and it settles down to the same clattery idle as before. Thanks to the update, the power output has now gone up from 105bhp to 110bhp but the torque figure of 250Nm remains the same. It clearly felt more responsive than the old unit and there is loads of pulling power from as low as 1,500rpm. Such is the flexibility of this motor that you can get away with being in a higher gear at crawling speeds, which makes it quite stress-free to drive. Go past 2,000rpm however and this motor really gets in its stride, as it pulls relentlessly to around 4,500rpm, post which the power tapers off. The five speed gearbox is quite direct but the clutch action feels too heavy and long. Thankfully the torquey motor doesn’t warrant too many gearshifts to make quick progress.

Driving around slow moving traffic and by lanes, we really appreciated the direct and easy to twirl steering which makes it easy to maneuver. Low speed ride is absorbent and pot-hole infested roads were also dismissed without any problem. But large road imperfections do make their presence felt in the cabin, as the suspension thuds through them. On the highway, the Rapid displays good stability and the comfortable ride makes it an able cruiser. Over undulating surfaces it does tend to bounce a bit and a flatter ride would have been welcomed. Around twisty sections, the Rapid feels willing and the direct steering, good body control and loads of grip gives you lot of confidence. The brakes too offered good bite and stopping power felt more than adequate.

Renault Captur Design

The Captur is a bona fide result of the evolving crossover design trend in recent years. The segment has become increasingly competitive and accordingly, the Captur has been imbued with a quirky sense of style. It looks eccentric and very French, thanks to certain design elements like the gaping grille (with the large Renault logo) that meets the edges of the headlights, the C-shaped daytime running lights and the large front bumper. The all LED headlights are superbly intricate as are the 17-inch alloy wheels with their textured inlays.

Renault has introduced a new top-end variant known as the ‘Platine’ edition. This variant gets black and white leather seats and gold surrounds around the AC vents and Media-Nav. The leather seats not only look neat but also offer good cushioning and back support. However, under thigh support is lacking for tall passengers in both rows. The rear seat too has just about average headroom and kneeroom for tall passengers. This may come to you as a surprise since the Duster has tons of space but the truth is that the Captur has a smaller-sized cabin. Seating position is high too, which gives a commanding view of the road on the upside but this also eats away the headroom.

The upward sloping shoulder on the window line makes the rear glass smaller and this gives out a feeling of reduced spaciousness in the cabin. Renault has added some leather inserts on the door panel, which is a good thing but overall plastic quality could have been better since Renault is calling it a premium SUV. There are good number of features in the cabin. To start with, Renault is offering automatic headlamps and rain sensing wipers. You get LED cabin lights, ambient lighting, new digital speedometer ISOFIX child seat mounts and a cooled glove box which has the depth to keep long items.

The Duster-inspired 7-inch touchscreen audio system houses the display of the reversing camera. The software has now been optimised to boot faster but Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are surprisingly missing. Other standard features include keyless entry, push button start and automatic climate control with rear AC vents. The ARKAMYS-tuned sound system churns out some good quality sound. Boot space is at par with the Duster and the rear seat has an option of dropping down completely but there is no 60:40 split.

On the road, the Captur could be best described as ‘comfortable’. More on that later… Now we ought to make it clear that the India-spec Captur is quite different from the one sold in the Europe. The Captur that we will be getting is based on Renault’s MO platform for emerging markets, which is why the brand has stuck with the tried and tested 1.5-litre K9K diesel motor. That being said, there is a vast difference in the way the Captur and the Duster behave on the road.

The Captur and the Duster share the same 1.5-litre 110bhp/240Nm diesel motor, however, the refinement levels are world apart. The Captur is significantly quieter on the move thanks to better insulation and a less noisy motor – one can hardly hear the diesel clatter once the windows are up. What’s more, the Captur also accelerates in a more linear manner than the Duster when the motor is on boost. For those who are wondering, there is still some turbo lag under 2,000rpm, post which the Captur pulls strongly till 4,500rpm or thereabout. The motor’s got enough torque lower down the rev range to propel the Captur through traffic without ever feeling like it needs to be worked too hard. To our surprise, even the clutch feel is different compared to the Duster – it’s more precise and not as heavy either.

The Captur is dynamically very sound and it was bound to be since it shares it underpinnings with the Duster. Handling characteristics are very similar to the Duster. The steering offers good feedback, sometimes more than you would like. It still has the mid-turn kickback but can be irritating at times. Nevertheless, this is the best steering in the segment as far as enthusiastic driving is concerned. The Captur is not unnerved in changing direction and while doing so there isn’t much body roll.The Captur offers a very settled ride. It is barely moved by rough and bad roads. At slow speeds, almost every undulation is filtered before it reaches the cabin. At high speeds, the rear passengers did feel a few jolts over very rough roads but overall, the passengers would find no reason to complain as far as ride is concerned. Braking performance is progressive with the pedal offering good bite.

The Renault Captur will get dual front airbags along with ABS and EBD. The SUV also gets Brake Assist. Renault’s sales and service network in India is limited in reach and the company still has a long way to go when compared to some of its immediate rivals.
